Annoying Blogging Mistakes and The Way Out

There are a few habits, gross errors or things that bloggers overlook while creating posts. These can be extremely annoying for the readers. A few of them are mentioned below:

Too many advertising and other PPC links generate income for you, but could be annoying for the readers. Therefore you should adopt the right strategy that helps create balance. Understand that posting too many links on your blog is not the key to revenue generation. More number of links will not make readers definitely click on one of them; it could drive them away instead. The best way out is to post interesting content and keep readers glued to your blog. If they are spending enough time on your blog, they are likely to click on the links also.

Spelling and grammatical mistakes are one of the biggest blunders a blogger can commit. It makes them look careless and untutored. So proofreading for all typos, spelling and grammatical checks should be done before posting. The flow of the writing language should be verified. All this makes navigation easier for the readers. Send them on a information hunting spree wont help to gain blog traffic.

Avoid archiving content by month and year. This makes the blog post look behind the times. Instead try classifying content only into sub-categories on your blog. Also, as far as possible try to write about general topics whose popularity will not change with time. This will make your blog content seem fresh regardless of when you posted it.

Moreover, write content without reference to any particular time period.  Omit words like recently, yesterday, today, etc that indicate time. Again, they might make your content seem dated. For the same reason, where you place the date on your blog is important. Making the date clearly visible on your blog is a bad idea, instead publish it but in a subtle manner.

There is some debate over use of emoticons, so we will discuss it last. Some bloggers use emoticons in their work.  However, use them only if you feel comfortable, as emoticons have their pros and cons. Firstly, emoticons help communicate feelings and writer intentions more clearly. They also help in giving a more humane face to your blog. They might also make readers connect with your blog. However, they could also make your blog content appear playful and the writer amateurish. So make sure that emoticons go with the personality of your blog.
